When to Start Study Abroad Prep — 2026 Timeline Guide

US university — ideally Grade 10–11
For competitive universities, start consulting in Grade 10–11 to shape EC, course selection, and tests. Grade 12-only starts compress essay and list work.
Aim to lock list direction and essay themes 12–18 months before ED/EA.
Boarding — Grade 7–8
SSAT and SAO timelines arrive quickly. Begin boarding consulting in middle school when possible; late starts need realistic list strategy.
Transfer and graduate — 12–18 months ahead
